About us

South London Special League (SLSL) is a unique award-winning registered charity that provides opportunities for young disabled people and adults to improve their lives through sport. SLSL was founded in 2004 and began with football initially to provide a competitive league for young people with disabilities, and in doing so to break down the social, economic and environmental barriers to inclusion together with the huge inequalities that disabled people confront when accessing sport and leisure activities. By achieving this, disabled people are able to increase their opportunities to meet new friends, socialise and gain new experiences. All of these contribute towards their improved health and wellbeing, physical fitness, heightened self-esteem, raised aspirations and indeed, happiness.
